Rio as refuge for homeless families
At our next meeting we shall discuss the conversion of “Rio”, the former care home for the elderly, into a refuge for homeless families. This is in response to the great concern in the community about this development and the way it has been progressed without consultation or provision of information.
Despite the facts that the decision to purchase Rio was taken in February 2008 and that two of the local councillors sit on the housing and health committee which made the decision we were not informed by Perth & Kinross Council. Given an opportunity we would have taken the decision to the community for appraisal, and would have drawn attention to the many issues that are now being discussed. These include traffic, parking facilities, visits by estranged parents, safety and security of resident children and change of use.
