As this new phase of construction work starts, we are keen that we see a positive relationship between the contractors and local residents, especially as noise levels have increased substantially. However we are receiving a fresh outbreak of complaints from local residents relating to the development. So far, there are worrying signs that supervision of activities might not be as thorough and detailed as it should be and we hope that this can be addressed quickly to avoid any further complaints.
Large cable drums were released and rolled downhill narrowly missing people walking in the grounds. We have asked for security to be tightened.
We have had complaints about the installation of a telegraph pole on Muirhall Road. There was no prior consultation or prior notice given by BT. The issue was compounded by BT staff parking inconsiderately on Muirhall Road, opposite the exits from the houses, creating a safety hazard for residents driving on to Muirhall Road which had become a two-way single lane without ant traffic controls. The response from Morgan Ashurst, the contractor, was to the effect that they had no control over utilities contractors. We have also had complaints about construction traffic using Back Wynd and Lochie Brae, where it would seem that the new contractors/ sub-contractors are either unaware of the route restrictions or are disobeying them. We have asked that all contractors / sub-contractors be notified or reminded of the restrictions. We have also asked for larger traffic signs to be erected on Main Road and Gowrie Street.
An NHS representative said that it has been advised that Morgan Ashurst have circulated the approved traffic route to all their suppliers and subcontractors and continue to do so with every new order placed. NHS has asked that they reiterate this message clearly.
It would be helpful if details of companies/ vehicles could be recorded. If NHS has details it can confirm beyond doubt that they are coming to the MRH site. Morgan Ashurst has also advised they will consider removing persistent problem suppliers from their approved supplier lists.
