Brown Bin Waste Collection

Collection of brown bin (compost) waste is to be reduced.

PKC say that a significant increase in mixed garden and food waste has led to all current collection routes being at maximum capacity, just ahead of the time of year when the greatest amount of these types of waste is produced. It has therefore been necessary to put a number of interim measures in place for the summer of 2010:

- With effect from Monday 19th July, the Council will only collect one brown lidded bin. Householders with two or more brown bins can continue to use them to store waste, but only one bin will be uplifted.

- No further brown lidded bins will be distributed this summer. Anyone requesting a new brown bin or an additional bin will be put onto a holding list, pending the development of a long-term solution.
