Realistic schemes to earn revenue will have to be put in place
Present Position
While there is a reasonable number of members to allow the Trust to be established it is hoped that everyone in the BGKCC area will join as members (and those with particular skills and interests are especially welcome).
People willing to participate or help in a particular venture are needed too.
Once there is widespread community representation in membership elections for the board will be held.
Two sub-groups have been formed. One is considering how the Trust can become self maintaining, Operating costs will be around £1000 per annum. The other is considering how to spend money prudently. It is looking at other development trusts and deciding on consultants.
The Community Plan for the area to consult and engage with local residents on a full range of issues has to be drafted
History
The Community Council promoted the idea of setting up a Community Development Trust for our area. The Trust would not be run by the Community Council but by residents of our area although the Community Council would be represented on the Trust to ensure communication and avoid cross purposes.
There was a well attended Open Meeting in Kinnoull Church Hall on 28th October 2010. This provided enough support from a cross section of the community for matters to proceed.
A company limited by guarantee was set up with an interim board.
